The registry was created to handle all of the critical file associations with programs and registered Windows components. These registrations allow for faster access and management of applications by the Windows operating system. Believe it or not, the registry is not something to be terrified of. If you make the proper backups and have a solid recovery plan, recovering modifications to the registry is often a snap, and in many cases can be done by booting Windows XP into safe mode. Registry cleaning tools have been around for a long time, and their performance benefits are often debated. Many individuals are avidly against using them because they can cause system instability. While this can occur in rare instances, the benefits of a clean registry are faster file access times and less headaches with file association management. There are many free registry cleaning tools available in the market, these tools include, but are not limited too CCleaner, Glary Utilities and Advanced SystemCare. I personally prefer using Glary Utilities for all of my registry cleaning. I believe it has a solid background as a registry cleaning tool and had very few issues with it.
